Our Commercial team – outstanding in their field

For the first time ever in our thirty plus years of proudly supporting the Royal Welsh Show, our Commercial team hosted our stand, raising awareness of how we have helped communities in Wales to grow and thrive over the last 20 years. The team focused on the theme of 'sustainable housing' and also shared some of the brilliant initiatives we have been driving across Wales.

We’re proud to include:

  • A £9.5m funding package to support the development of 34 houses and apartments, and nine retail spaces at a former laundry mill site in Pontcanna;
  • £3.3 million to support a new build development in Newport, Pembrokeshire providing employment for local tradespeople and engaging the wider community;
  • £5m in funding for a 106 home development in Llanfoist, Abergavenny including 69 homes eligible for Help to Buy Wales;
  • £3.7million for the final phase of Great House Farm, St Fagan's, Cardiff, providing 35 low to zero carbon homes using solar panels, in-house batteries for excess energy storage, electric car charging points and air filtration systems to recycle old air with residents benefitting from low to zero energy bills.

As well as this, we’re also providing £20 million to support developers in sustainable building through our Green Development Fund; whether they are planning a fully carbon neutral revolutionary eco-village or simply building an eco-bungalow in Aberdare.

We also partnered with Sero Homes, who are rethinking innovative, sustainable housing and building true zero carbon homes for future generations. The Sero team joined us to chat to visitors about how to make their homes more sustainable, and members of our Environmental Network were on hand to chat about the little climate-smart choices we can all make to make a big difference.

Richard Wales, Commercial Lending Director said, “The Royal Welsh Show is one of the largest and most high-profile agricultural events in Europe. It's always been a wonderful platform for Principality, and the Commercial team is delighted to have been given the opportunity to do something a bit different this year – to celebrate our 20th anniversary! It was great to talk about what we are doing as a business to help drive the change needed in the housing sector and hopefully raised awareness of the importance of sustainable development."
