Please make sure you read the account terms for the account you’d like to open. You can only apply by post for children's savings accounts that can be opened in trust.

How to apply

Step 1: Complete the forms


Download, print and complete a savings application form.

For accounts being opened in trust, you’ll also need to complete a trustee application form.

If you can’t print the forms, you can ask us to send you blank forms in the post.

Step 2: Choose how to fund your account


You can choose whether you'd like to:

  • Include a cheque with your application
  • Pay in cash at your local branch once the account is opened. Please don't send cash through the post.

Once your account is open, you'll be able to manage it online. To transfer money into your account, use these details:
Sort code: 20-18-23 
Account Number: 90653535 
Reference: Use your Principality savings account number 
Payee: Your name  

Step 3: Send us your documents


What to send us:

  • Your completed, signed and dated application forms, from step 1.
  • Instructions on how you want to fund your new account, from step 2.
  • Proof of identity for:
    • The child (if they're a new customer)
    • Any trustees on the form (if they're a new customer) 
  • You can send original or clear copies of your identification.

FAQs about opening an account

We’ll write to you once we’ve processed your application to let you know your account is ready to use.  Your letter will tell you your account number and how you can start putting money into your account. 

If you change your mind, call us on 0330 333 4000. We’ll guide you through what to do.

Our savings accounts have limited availability and can be withdrawn at any time. If the account you’ve applied for is off sale when we receive your completed application, we won’t be able to open it for you.

Once your account is open, you’ll be able to start paying money into it. You can set up an online profile to manage your account electronically, send online payments, set up a standing order, or visit your local branch to pay money in.
