Investing in Wales' communities

We believe in investing in the future of our communities, ensuring the groups and charities that make a real difference in Wales not only survive but thrive. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the latest awards from our Future Generations Fund (FGF), bringing the total investment to over £1.6 million since 2022!

This year, we’ve awarded £600,000 to youth and community projects with grants ranging from £15,000 to £25,000 designed to create lasting change by addressing critical issues like mental health, social isolation, sustainability and financial resilience. From empowering young people with life skills to supporting veterans through art therapy, we’re proud to back these transformative initiatives.

Our commitment to future generations

It’s not just about handing out money and walking away. It’s about our colleagues showing up as volunteers, rolling up our sleeves, listening, learning and talking to the people who are doing the work and the people whose lives are being changed by it. That’s how we really make a difference.

Here are just a few examples of the great work being funded:

The VC Gallery: Supporting hundreds of people weekly through art, to reduce isolation and build confidence.
Youth Shedz Cymru: Inspiring young people to take the lead in community improvement projects, fostering pride and leadership.
Bridgend Community Outreach Centre (BARC): Equipping young people with budgeting and healthy living skills to build resilience.

But we’re not stopping there. In 2024, we also launched the Retrofit for the Future Fund, a game-changer in sustainability. This initiative provides grants of up to £25,000 for essential upgrades like solar panels and insulation, helping community hubs reduce energy costs and cut carbon footprints. By revitalising these spaces, we’re ensuring they remain vibrant, accessible and environmentally friendly for generations to come.

A word from our Chief Impact and Governance Officer

Tony Smith, our Chief Impact and Governance Officer, sums it up perfectly:

“Our Future Generations Fund exemplifies our belief that business can and must be a force for good. The groups we fund are often the lifelines of their communities but face immense financial pressure. We want to empower these organisations to continue their great work, ensuring they can meet the needs of the most vulnerable and equip young people to succeed. Sustainable buildings also play a critical role in creating resilient communities. Through our Retrofit for the Future Fund, we’re addressing environmental challenges as well as social and economic inequalities. These projects directly align with our wider impact objectives by fostering sustainability, reducing energy costs and creating a healthier environment for future generations.”
