Digital Ticketing FAQs

What is Digital Ticketing?

Tickets for Welsh Rugby fixtures at Principality Stadium will be delivered digitally to a smartphone/device using the Principality Stadium Ticketing app.

Why are Digital Tickets being introduced?

The Principality Stadium Ticketing app allows digital tickets to be delivered securely, quickly and removing the need to wait for your paper tickets to arrive by post.

The move to digital ticketing supports measures that it is anticipated will be required in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. The app will allow the WRU to identify who is in the stadium, enabling effective track and trace as well as reducing the risk of transmission by cutting out the handling of traditional paper tickets.

I am receiving my tickets from Principality Building Society e.g. winning them through Member Rewards, do I still need the app?

Yes, everyone will need the download the app to access their tickets. Once you’ve been contacted and informed of your tickets by a Principality Building Society employee, you will be asked to download the app so that your digital tickets can be sent directly to your app.

You will need to provide your full name and mobile telephone number to the Principality Building Society employee so the tickets can get transferred to your app. The mobile number you use to register for the app must be the same as the one you give to the Principality Building Society employee otherwise your ticket will not get successfully transferred.

I do not have a mobile phone, how can I get my ticket?

Due to the need for track and trace measures all tickets will be distributed digitally.

How do I download the app to access my tickets?

If you do not already have the Principality Stadium Ticketing app, you can download it by clicking here

Alternatively, you can search for ‘Principality Stadium Ticketing’ in the App Store for iPhone or Google Play Store for Android, depending on the type of smart device that you have.

What happens once I have downloaded the app?

Once you have downloaded the app, you will need to register with your name, mobile number and email address. Please note the mobile number used for your digital ticketing account must match that on your WRU e-ticking account and the number you’ve provided to the Principality Building Society employee who will be arranging your tickets to be sent to your app.

After entering your name, you will be prompted to enter your mobile number and you will then be sent an SMS message containing a verification code. Once you have entered your verification code, your mobile number will be verified.

You will then be prompted to enter your email address and will receive a confirmation code via email. Once you have entered your verification code, your email will be verified and your registration complete.

How will I know if my ticket has been received by my app?

You will receive a notification once your ticket(s) are available within your app. Tickets can be found in the ‘My tickets’ section of your app.

Can I hold both tickets on my app?

Due to track and trace measures all tickets will be distributed digitally. Every person attending the event will be required to have their own digital ticket on their own device and will need to download the app. Please ensure that you and the person you are attending with have a fully charged smartphone. You will not be permitted to enter the Stadium using multiple Tickets on a single mobile device.

The only exceptions to this are for accompanied minors (those under the age of 18 where proof of age may be required) and/or for those people with accessibility requirements attending the event with a companion.

How do I transfer my ticket to the person I am attending the match with?

Please follow the steps in this guide.

You cannot screen shot the ticket as this will trigger a security alert and your ticket will become invalidated.

I am taking someone under 18, do they need to download the app and the ticket?

The only exceptions to this are for accompanied minors (those under the age of 18 where proof of age may be required) and/or for those people with accessibility requirements attending the event with a companion.

I need to transfer a ticket to a friend who does not have a mobile phone, how can this be done?

We anticipate the need to adhere to track and trace measures and therefore all tickets will be distributed digitally. Please contact the WRU Customer Care team by emailing customercare@wru.wales with your questions.

Will my data be used for track and trace purposes?

Welsh Government guidance will be followed which at present asks the WRU to collect your contact details. These will be kept in conjunction with current GDPR stipulations and the WRU privacy policy which can be found here.

What happens if my battery dies ahead of the match or my phone breaks before the match?

Please ensure that you have a fully charged smart phone but if this happens please visit the WRU Ticket Office which is located between gates 3 & 4 of Principality Stadium on Westgate Street.

What happens if the match is cancelled/postponed/played without spectators or I am unable to attend?
